EX1400 Coach: "The Classic Side-by-Side, Cut to Move"

Derya Arms Adds the EX1400 Coach — an 18-Inch Side-by-Side Built for the Job the Name Describes

Derya EX1400 Coach 18-inch side-by-side shotgun

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Derya Arms (South Derya Corp.), an international firearms manufacturer with production operations in Jacksonville, Florida and Konya, Türkiye, today expanded its EX imported shotgun line with the EX1400 Coach — an 18-inch 12-gauge side-by-side in the classic coach-gun pattern. It joins the existing 24-inch EX1400 field gun and ships now through Derya’s authorized dealer network nationwide at a $699 MSRP.

EX is the designation for Derya’s imported shotguns — built in Türkiye and exported to the United States. Every traditional Derya shotgun in the U.S. catalog carries the EX prefix. The EX1300 over/under and the original EX1400 side-by-side opened that line. The Coach expands the EX1400 itself: same receiver, shorter barrels, extra grip in the box.

A coach gun is not a shortened field gun with a different sticker. It is a side-by-side cut to work from a cramped box. Wells Fargo shotgun messengers rode the seat next to the driver with a short double — 18 to 24 inches of barrel, two charges of buckshot, no time to swing a long gun off a bouncing stage. That job is where “riding shotgun” comes from. The same shape still earns its keep: Cowboy Action stages, a truck or boat where a 26-inch barrel hangs up, brush and scrub too tight for a field gun, and a hallway where two fast barrels and a break-open action are the whole instruction manual.

The architecture is unchanged from the 24-inch EX1400 field gun: mono-block steel receiver, black chrome finish, hand-selected Turkish walnut, tang safety, fixed bead sight, and Mobilchoke-threaded barrels with Full, Modified, and Improved Cylinder tubes in the box. What changes is the length. Eighteen-inch barrels put the EX1400 Coach at 35 inches overall and 6.61 pounds unloaded — short enough to come up from a vehicle seat or a closet without raking the doorframe.

Every EX1400 Coach ships with an extra grip in addition to the walnut buttstock on the gun. The owner can leave it as a traditional coach gun or swap to the extra grip for a shorter, more compact hold — the same gun, two ways to run it. The rest of the kit is the EX-series standard: Derya bag, user manual, WTTA flyer, cleaning cloth, tool, and the three-choke set.

Most American shooters know Derya for the DY9 pistols, the TM22 .22 rifles, and the RAN lever guns. The EX line is the imported shotgun side of the catalog. The Coach is the short EX1400 — the gun the shotgun messenger actually carried. Eighteen-inch barrels, extra grip in the box, same $699. That is what a coach gun is for.
